Hey, all!

Here at Leviosa2016. There's been some talk about the decline in community, and I've had a few questions as to whether I'd stopped writing. Without getting into too many details, I've had an energy-draining year, but I feel like I'm getting my mojo back. I have a Snarry story (in the Finder's Fee series) that I finished in January, and two chapters of Teamwork, which have been sitting unbeta'd. I've talked with a few people here about potentially beta-reading for me, and I think I'll have a new post or two soon.

So .. how are you all? Shall we have a fandom community and friending event? A week when everyone tries to log in?

Considering I haven't worked on balance beam since 8th grade, I did okay. Except for that last time coming off when I didn't jump clear and caught my foot. Ouch.

I'm pretty sure it's nothing that Ice'n'Ibuprofen won't fix.

Despite this, enjoying Adult Gymnastics.

Tuulikki hatched a chick! We were astounded, because none of the eggs any of the hens have tried to hatch have ever been fertile before. Hermes figured out the positioning, I guess? (He's a bantam, and has previously been aligning at the front, rather than the rear, for the big hens.) We're pretty sure the egg came from Henrietta -- one of the Aracauna crosses, anyway, because the shell was green.

Anyway, we had planned to plant a bunch of tomato plants, today, and then maybe go to the figure skating competition. We'd done about half the garden work, and I'd said I should take a break so I didn't get a sunburn. I was just heading in when K. came running up, saying there was a CHICK in Tuulikki's nest!

So, we'll see. My mind is irritatingly ready to supply dozens of ways the chick could die, of course, mostly fueled by information on raising brooder chicks, but Tuulikki seems determined to be a good mother. I'm hoping it will work out.

I had a marvelous time at Misti-Con! I left shortly after the masquerade ball started (once I had seen everyone's costumes!) as I couldn't dance (tendonitis) and couldn't drink (as I needed to drive home that night, for a before-work PT appt. for said tendonitis), and it was too loud to really have conversations. My weekend was still wonderful! Shout out for the Divination class, the lecture on manifestations of mental processes, the wacky and welcoming improv workshop, and all the great people I hung out with! I hope to be not injured next time, so I can participate in more of the physical activities.

If anyone from the con sees this, congrats on the fantastic decorations, and on organizing such a fun, multi-layered event.

Oh, and either dowsing works spectacularly well for "where do I go next to have as much fun as possible?" or there was just fun in every direction.

Working at home today, so I wasn't anywhere near the blast. Horrified by the news, and glad of everyone checking in on facebook, twitter, here, and other sites. But there's that bit of sadness and guilt, each time, that so many people around me must be getting bad news today.
